After School Programs: Care Fresno has been running after-school programs since its inception in 1995. It is our niche and we work specifically with kids grades Kindergarten through 6th who are not involved with sports or other school-based after school activities. These programs meet either in Care Fresno staff apartments, apartment complex community rooms or other spaces donated by churches. Our after-school programs incorporate healthy snacks, tutoring/homework help, arts/crafts, sports and other enrichments programs. A typical schedule at a Care Fresno after-school program is as follows:
Field Trips As part of our annual calendar and through several generous community partnerships, we are able to take kids from our programs to various field trips. We have gone to a Fresno Monsters Hockey Game, a Fresno Fuego Soccer Game, the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, Disney on Ice at Selland Arena, DANCE! at Selland Arena and many, many more. Our kids always have a great time on these trips! Some of our sites facilitate a Saturday Sports program through a generous partnership with Every Neighborhood Partnership. Breakfast is provided for the kids, then they play a variety of sports, then a Bible story and ending with lunch, which is also provided free of charge. This is an exciting day for kids, staff and volunteers! Care Fresno Summer of Fun Care Fresno does not only run programs for kids and communities during the school year, but the Care Fresno Summer of Fun is a 7 week program that runs throughout the city. The Summer of Fun is composed of sports, arts, crafts, service learning, movie-making, field trips, water days, photography and LOTS of FUN! A typical day during the Summer of Fun looks like:
Hundreds of kids participate in the Summer of Fun each summer throughout Care Fresno sites. The entire summer program is free of charge for kids and ends with our Care Camp at Calvin Crest Christian Camps. |
