What happens at our sites do?
Care Fresno has the amazing opportunity of having 7 sites in our program. These sites are Courtyard, Kings Palace, Summerset, Hidalgo, Bethel, Martin Park and Webster. Each site is located in Fresno California in a neighborhoods that has been historically under-resourced. The sites consist of one or more site leads to lead the group of kids during After School Program. Currently, each site meets on 3 designated days during the week. The site leads are accompanied by volunteers, mentors, and core staff ensuring the safety of your children.
Each site is where our after school programs meets, mentorships happen, and Summer programs take place. All fun activities at the site are available to anyone living in that apartment complex or neighborhood. Usually the sites have anywhere from 10-30 students at After School Program where they are able to get help with homework, have a healthy snack, hangout and participate in game and activities. For more information regarding our site look up each site on our website or reach out to our Neighborhood Program Manager Sam Jordon at programs@carefresno.org.
Site Leads, volunteers, mentors, and core staff are tasked with helping students with their homework, ensuring everyone is having a fun and safe time, participating in events both at the site and outside of it at field trips, and participating in group games and activities each day. Site leads are at each site for a minimum of one year and usually live on site to better serve their community and be a part of it. Volunteers are those from local high schools and colleges looking to fulfill any volunteer hours needed. Mentors are also at a site for a minimum of one year but do not live on site. We encourage any volunteer who volunteers with us to consistently come as we believe in continuity of care. Which means we know the kids will get attached to our volunteers and expect them to show up for them so we encourage volunteers to be dedicated to showing up on time and consistently show up throughout their designated time period. These connections between the Site Leads, volunteers, and mentors with the kids at the site are extremely beneficial to all parties involved and something we value as an organization.
For more information on becoming a volunteer reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator Kyle Jimenez-Little at admin@carefresno.org. For more information on becoming apprentice, mentor or site lead reach out to our Neighborhood Program Manager Sam Jordon at programs@carefresno.org or our Mission Care Coordinator Seth Jordon at missioncare@carefresno.org.
