1. In partnership with the Fresno Police Department, Care Fresno locates Fresno highest-crime apartment complexes.
2. We then pair local churches to these high-crime apartment complexes. 
3. We locate emerging leaders within these churches and train them to become community advocates. 
4. We move these young leaders into Fresno's highest crime communities and apartments and then create community learning centers within these apartments.
5. We provide daily after-school tutoring, mentoring and sports programs for at-risk youth. 
6. Care Fresno trains our community advocates in child development principles for at-risk youth & sociological understandings of impoverished communities. We prepare them to work with the multitude of issues that are prevalent in violent, impoverished neighborhoods. 
7. Their mission is to work with the children and families to develop indigenous leaders within the community while addressing the educational, environmental, emotional, and spiritual needs of their neighbors!

Nearly half the population in U.S. major cities lives in apartments. Apartment complexes in impoverished neighborhoods typically house 5 times the population of neighborhoods with single-unit housing. Due to these high-concentrations of poverty, apartments tend to be plagued by crime and produce the highest calls for police service in the city.  

Many apartments in these neighborhoods are "slum-lorded".  They attract tenants who can not pass background checks  elsewhere. This is another reason for heightened rates of crime.

We serve a very special niche.  Our youth consist of those least likely to be in school-based programs, most-likely to be alone after school and are therefore the most likely to be involved in gangs.

The most recent evaluation shows that 75% of the children that come into our programs are multiple grade levels behind.

 Care Fresno sites have reported as much as a 60% drop in crime due, in part, to a lower rate of juvenile crime.
