Our Program
Our Mentorship Program is designated to connect youth in our community to caring and qualified mentors. Mentoring is shown to have many benefits for a child or teen's current and future school, career, personal, relational, and spiritual choices. All youth ages 7-17 who are enrolled in our neighborhood programs of live in a Care Fresno neighborhood are eligible to be mentored. Mentors and Mentees meet 2.5 hours per month for a year to foster development in:
- Education & Career Path
- Healthy Relationships
- Personal Development
Our Process
This program has been naturally developing over recent years and we have seen the great impact its made. The original intentions of our program have now given us the opportunity to grow our mentoring process.
We encourage those interested to begin by volunteering in one of our After-School Programs or Summer Program and gathering a relationship with youth there in a group setting. This allows the child and parent to become familiar and comfortable with a potential mentor beforehand. It also helps mentors identify which youth they connect with well.
For those unable to volunteer at a neighborhood program, a profile is made and given to Site Leads who can help identify youth in need of mentorship who might be a good match.
